The Series A+™ Offers Designers Energy Efficiency and Greater Control Over the Built Environment

The Series A+™ is a high-performance, specification-grade family of lamps designed for discerning lighting clients. In addition to providing superior dimming compatibility and the highest CRI possible, the Series A+™ also boasts low power consumption and long life, surpassing Energy Star and California Energy Commission requirements. From commercial and retail environments to restaurants, hotels and art galleries, the Series A+™ state-of-the-art color rendering will enhance colors in any setting. For lighting designers everywhere, the Series A+™ opens up a new set of tools that give greater control over mastering the built environment.

Also debuting at Wanted is the Genesis DynaSpectrum™ (Genesis), the world’s first commercially-available luminaire designed to improve the user’s health, sleep and productivity. Unlike traditional incandescent and LED lighting, Genesis emits the appropriate spectrum of light necessary to regulate the body’s natural circadian rhythm 24/7.“In recent months, there has been increasing awareness that the bright blue light emanating from our digital devices and TVs can cause sleep disruption,” explained Maxik, “but few people realize that the lights all of us have in our offices and homes cause the same problem, tricking our brains into thinking that it is daytime. Delivered at the right time, in the right spectrum, blue light can be very beneficial, increasing productivity, cognitive function and reaction time up to 90 minutes after exposure. Inappropriate light exposure, however, actually suppresses the night-time release of the sleep-inducing hormone melatonin, making it difficult for people to fall—and stay—asleep.”

With optimal health in mind, Lighting Science developed Genesis, which dynamically changes between Lighting Science’s biological LED spectrums, the GoodDay™ – which enhances your natural energy and focus – and the GoodNight™ – which promotes a healthy and restorative sleep. Fred Maxik to Lead Science and Design Panel

Those interested in learning more about the future of light won’t want to miss Fred Maxik who will be speaking on the Science & Design panel on Saturday, May 14, from 12-1 p.m. Other panel participants include James Ramsey, RAAD Principal and creator of the Lowline, and David A. Edwards, Professor of the Practice of Biomedical Engineering at Harvard University and founder of Le Laboratoire, an experimental art and design center in Paris. The Series A+™ and Genesis will be on display in the Grimshaw gallery adjacent to the main terminal hall. A living wall display, designed and produced in collaboration with New York-based John Mini Distinctive Landscapes, will make for a glorious window display where the true color of the living flora and fauna will come to life under the spotlight of the Series A+™ bulb.
