Lighting Science Launches The Durabulb(TM)

LIGHTING SCIENCE LAUNCHES THE DURABULB™
SHATTER-RESISTANT, ENERGY-EFFICIENT LED LEADS THE PACK IN SUSTAINABILITY

WEST WARWICK, RI–(Marketwired – September 12, 2016) – LED innovation powerhouse Lighting Science (LSCG)announces the consumer launch of their newest product: The Durabulb™, a shatter-resistant light bulb designed to withstand life’s inevitable bumps and drops without breaking. Unlike traditional incandescent bulbs, this light is incredibly durable, making it ideal for rough and tumble areas like garages, game rooms, basements and kids’ bedrooms. Its tough, polycarbonate plastic shell also lends itself to rough service commercial applications such as factory settings and indoor construction sites. As part of the Durabulb launch, Lighting Science also released a short “day in the life” video that documents the product’s ruggedness.

The genius of the Durabulb lies not only in its rugged design, but also in its energy-efficiency and sustainability. The Durabulb uses about 80 percent less energy than comparable incandescent bulbs. In addition, packaged in recyclable plastic tubs of 10-20 bulbs, as well as more traditional two-pack options, the Durabulb also uses about 30 percent less material than similar products, making it an environmentally-friendly lighting choice. In fact, thanks to its unique design and packaging, shipping the Durabulb produces about 40 percent less CO2 emissions than standard LED lighting.

As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to extended producer responsibility, Lighting Science will also be offering a take-back program for the Durabulb. After its three-year warranty, consumers will be able to exchange the Durabulb for a 50 percent off replacement coupon.

The Durabulb, with its 700 lumen output, is the ideal replacement for traditional 60 watt lightbulbs in indoor commercial sites and in the home. Its patented technology lasts up to 10,000 hours — or about ten times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs. This revolutionary new light also provides even, omni-directional illumination, making it a singular solution for environmentally conscious and design-savvy consumers alike.
